Hoppy Easter

After my long hiatus I am finally getting back into my crafts as the little one is taking naps on a regular basis now. Basic grey challenges contacted me about my previous interest in being a guest designer on their blog and I quickly jumped at the chance. I love Basic Grey paper as you can see from previous posts.

The challenge for the next two weeks is "Easter" so make sure to jump over to their site as they have great prizes you can win, I know as I have previously won a challenge with them.

This card uses the following materials:
Basic Grey Kioshi 6x6 paper pad and buttons
Jesse James gems
Black cardstock and purple glitter paper from my stash
Copic markers

Creative Chemistry~Day 7

So I am jumping around a bit as I find time to complete my homework from Tim's Creative Chemistry 101 class. Its been a fun learning experience so far and I look forward to the remaining days. Today I am sharing an ATC card I created using his Rusted Enamel Technique. I forgot to stamp my image before hand so I actually used Archival ink after embossing and it turned out not too bad. I think if I had used a slightly lighter colour on the background it may have a little more pop but for a first attempt I am happy with it.

Hope you had as much fun creating as I did.

Creative Chemistry~Day 3

So today I wanted to share a little of my creative fun with everyone. For Day 3 with Creative Chemistry we learned about alcohol inks, archival inks, and oil and solvent based inks. I didn't have a whole lot of time to play around but I did make a couple of flower chipboard pieces that I plan on using on a card for my mom for mother's day using the Alcohol ink Agates technique. It turned out beautifully.

Then I had a few old dominos lying around and decided to try the technique on them. I think I will be taking my good set of dominos and making them uniquely my own by using this technique and some fun stamps. They would make great gifts for friends who like to play games. Give it a shot you never know what you might end up with.

April Showers

Goodbye to March and hello to the wet weather of April. Today my project keeps with the weather theme of April that we see here in Canada a lot of the time. With all the lovely rain we start to see the snow disappear and the beauty of spring start to peek up out of hibernation.

This card uses the following:
The Greeting Farm's image Anya rain, snow, and shine stamp set
Basic Grey's Picadily 6x6 paper pad and brads
Spellbinders ribbon banners and labels 8
Copic markers
Versamagic jumbo java ink

Just a sample

I posted about a week back about creating samples of blending families for my copic markers. This idea was inspired by the new Annies Attic book: "Copic Colouring Techniques-level two." I have only completed two families so far and have already encountered some really great new colour combinations I would have never used normally. I plan on finishing the rest and making a sample book out of it.

To make one simply find a small stamp that has a large open area to show the blending of colours. Select colours with various saturations and tones and blend them together on each stamped image. I labelled each one with the colours I used for future reference.

Hope you find this inspiring. It takes time but I think the end result will be worth it. Just a note, I did leave some space for new colours to be added as well as my book with have a few extra pages after each colour family for the same reason.

Creative Chemistry~Day 2

I am a little behind on my homework but at least I have found time to do some crafting. It hasn't been easy. Reviewing the spritz and flick technique and the wrinkle free distress was awesome and I learned the new watercolour stamping technique which is very cool.  I ran out of time to do the latter but had fun doing the first two.

I have really enjoyed learning how and why the products from Ranger work the way they do. As a teacher myself I always found the how and why the most exciting part. If you haven't signed up for the class yet, I highly encourage it. Its not too late. It has also been a great way to share and ask questions of other crafters.

The following is a tag created using the spritz and flick technique. I finished my tag using two of Tim's Holiday stamps. Its never too early to start on your Christmas tags. See you tomorrow.

Creative Chemistry 101~Day One

I have been craving some craft time since the little one came, but alas the demands of being a new mom have made it next to impossible. When I read about Tim's online interactive class at Online card classes I thought it was a perfect alternative since I can watch it on my iPad during feedings and try to do some "Homework" while the little one is down for a nap.

Day one's homework was to look at the various inks in our collection and learn about their properties. We also learned about Porous and Non-porous surfaces. Having mostly Ranger products in my collection there wasn't a whole lot for me to do, but I did have fun applying my various inks to different surfaces.

I have attached a photos below of some of the projects I have made with these fabulous products. The first one is a picture of a travel keepsake box I made using something I saw in Tim's winter CHA video.

This next project is an organization binder I created to keep track of all my supplies. Each tab has been designed and decorated with the products in that section.

I look forward to posting my day 2 homework soon.

Craft withdrawl

Finally after 5 straight weeks of no creative time my little one decided to give me some time to craft. I recently received the new Annie's Attic copic book level 2 and so I decided to enjoy some reading time. I loved the idea of making a colour combination book so that I can flip through it to see the blending colour families and other colour combos for inspiration. I find I always go to the same ones so hopefully this will give me some inspiration when I see the other lovely options on a page.

With this idea in mind I quickly went to work stamping out the same image and then copying and printing it on my Epson printer (Which is copic friendly). Next on the agenda tomorrow, is going to my friend Shari's for some colouring. My goal is to get the violet, blue-violet, and red-violet families done. I will post a picture once I have a sample.

Until then, here is a picture of my little fussy monkey. She is growing like a weed.
